The same folks who have been publishing GroovyMag since late 2008. Principally this is Michael Kimsal, who has been developing with the LAMP stack since before it had an acronym (1996).
At the moment, JSMag is a PDF-only publication. Based on reader demand, we are planning to introduce a physical print copy some time in the second half of 2010.
Your purchase should show up immediately in your "purchased issues" area of your account. If you do not see this, please forward your receipt from PayPal to editor@groovymag.com for prompt resolution.
If you're interested in writing for JSMag, send your idea to editor@jsmag.com. Please include a short description, approximate length, intended audience, time you would have the article finished, and include links to writing samples.
If you are planning to redistribute your JSMag PDF, we ask that you license the content for use by the people who will be reading it. We provide discounts starting at 30% for purchases of 3 or more copies.
This is intended for companies wanting to provide JSMag for their entire development staff, or for User Groups wanting to distribute the PDF to their members.
As always JSMag does not enforce licensing through any DRM, and we ask that you consider bulk licensing for situations where you plan on redistributing to a larger audience.
An issue is intended to be primarily read by one person. There's no DRM so we can not prevent copying for casual use. If the intention is for an issue to be distributed to multiple users (such as in a company or user group) we ask to people purchase a bulk license.
How many licenses to purchase should be based on an approximation of how many users may read any given issue. For example, in a company with 20 web developers, but only whom 8 of which may have a real need for an issue during the course of any month, purchasing 8 licenses is adequate. There's no need to purchase a license for every potential reader, only an estimate of how many readers may read any given issue.
